THE G IN GUITAR STANDS FOR GIRLS
Today’s theme: Rock On

NIGHT DRIVE.
Today’s theme: Blue On Monday
Why am I not in the 70’s and wearing flowers in my hair I can’t understand it lol
Watching the Dirt again and I swear guys the opening party scene in the Mötley House is my favorite part. Why? Well I have a LIST:
- The fact that I’m pretty sure it was all done in one shot???? The amount of work that had to have gone into choreographing that scene is incredible!
- We are introduced to all the band members and their personalities in a very concise way.
- For Tommy, we see he’s young, energetic, and like Nikki says, makes a lot of bad choices. He doesn’t even think before going down on that girl.
- For Nikki, we see he’s intense and pretty intimidating; also him lighting his sleeve on fire can either demonstrate how he was almost always on something (based on how his eyes look) or how he just never thought things through.
- It also, to a smaller extent, introduces us to the Terror Twins, since they’re both shown one after the other making really stupid choices.
- I also love how Nikki just seems mildly fascinated by the fact that his fucking jacket sleeve is on fire. Like “Oh hey, would ya look at that?”
- For Vince, we see that he’s the band’s resident fuckboi, willing to fuck anything that moves. And also how it’s pretty much second-nature to him, given that Nikki said in the voiceover that he was thinking not about the girl he was fucking but about how good he looked in the poster on the wall.
- And for Mick, we see that he is not like the three other party animals at all, never really into that stuff, and that he’d rather just go off somewhere and lie down with his arms crossed like a vampire than party till the sun comes up. That gives the audience the hint that he’s serious about his craft, not just in it for the partying.
- BRITTANY FURLAN
- (I’m sorry but I just love her podcast it’s hilarious)
- “Hey. Hey, are you in the band?” “What band?”
- “And Mick Mars. He’s an alien.”
- The scene perfectly encapsulates their party lifestyle, with it happening all around them the entire shot.
- I mean damn you could even argue that the kid puking into the trash can at the beginning (when the camera is outside the apartment) foreshadows how the high of success they were all riding on suddenly comes to a screeching halt starting with the car accident. Because drinking is fun at first, until you puke and wake up the next morning with a terrible hangover.
- And of course, shout out to the effects team for figuring out how to show the girl Tommy was going down on… yeah. Doing that.
- The fact that everyone’s watching and cheering makes me laugh so hard for some reason. Also how Brittany whirls around and looks incredibly shocked at what’s going on in here on this day.
In conclusion, this scene is only two minutes long, and you’d think I’d have some other favorite scene to gush about, but NOPE I LOVE THIS SCENE. It is a perfect introduction to Mötley Crüe and what they were all about, and I’m simply giving it the appreciation it deserves.
